DNS records are little instructions that point parts of your domain to the right place. Here are the ones you will meet most.
The main ones
- A record – points your domain to a website’s number address (IP).
- CNAME – points one name to another name (a nickname for a nickname).
- MX record – sends your email to the right mail service.
- TXT record – holds little notes, often used to prove you own the domain or to help stop spam.
You can add or change any of these yourself using our DNS Configuration Assistant (Domains Menu). And if you use our hosting or email, we set the right records (like MX for email) up for you automatically.
