If a domain is not renewed by its expiry date, it does not vanish straight away — but you do need to act quickly.
What happens, in order
- Expiry day: the domain stops working and your website/email may go down.
- Grace period: for a short while you can still renew it normally.
- Redemption: after that it goes into a special recovery stage, and getting it back costs extra.
- Released: finally it is let go and anyone can register it.

Do not wait! Renew as soon as you can. The earlier you fix it, the cheaper and easier it is.
